With the 2022 ICF SUP World Championships fast approaching, TotalSUP caught up with Per Vallbo, Founder and CEO of Yster SUP, a premium Swedish SUP brand based in Malmo, to chat about the Yster SUP Team and the demo board quiver available at this flagship event held on the 7-11 September. The brand’s presence in Gdynia is a unique opportunity to test a selection of Yster boards recognised for their signature characteristics such as directional stability and outstanding glide.

Hi Per, itâs great to see Yster SUP at the ICF Worlds!
Hi, we have a phenomenal line-up of Yster Riders from the UK, Sweden, Spain and France and we’re delighted to introduce them! I am personally looking forward to serving them as well as meeting old and new friends.
What Yster SUP boards will be available to demo?
There will be a Test Centre at the yacht park marina just north of the ICF Worlds arena with a number of Yster boards available for testing as long as the boards are not used by the athletes. Just drop us line if you are interested to demo the boards or just find us at the event.
In addition, the open water Yster SUP 14 x 23 Legend will be there, co-shaped with Swedish SUP Champion Maya Sergel (former Persson), and of course a few models of the Naked Carbon flat water race board developed and refined in collaboration with the Canoe Sprint and SUPChamp Martin Hunter.
Speaking of Martin Hunter, we’ve heard some rumours about a new board design…Are we expecting a cool announcement any time soon?
Working with Martin is a journey and there is always something to tweak. Iâll give you this: A while ago Martin said to me: “Balance is not a problem to me so forget about stability and focus entirely on maximising forward motion and speed”. Thatâs what we are working on.
