Welcome to Last Paddler Standing 2026!
If you are not familiar yet with the concept, well, Last Paddler Standing is an ultra-endurance SUP race held in Lake Placid, Florida. Unlike traditional SUP competitions, this event is built around resilience, race management, and mental toughness as much as physical output.
Competitors paddle a 3.33-mile loop, which must be completed within one hour. Each new lap begins precisely on the hour. The format continues hour after hour until only one paddler remains. After 48 hours, the loop distance increases to 4.9 miles, raising the physical and tactical demands even further.
Only one athlete will ultimately remain on the water. The question is simple: can you endure long enough to become the Last Paddler Standing in one of the most closely followed SUP races of the season?

John Batson, winner of the 2025 LPS and last finisher in 2024
This is a SUP-only event. Athletes must paddle with a single blade; double blades are not permitted. Hybrid sit-on-top boards are prohibited.
The event is structured to test endurance, recovery efficiency, pacing strategy, and mental resilience. Pure top speed alone will not determine the outcome, so equipment selection should reflect durability and long-term efficiency rather than short-distance performance.
The race begins Saturday, December 5, 2026 at 9:00 AM and continues until just one competitor completes the final lap. Registration opens January 1, 2026.

Each loop starts exactly at the top of the hour. Racers must be present at the starting line within 10 seconds of the hour.
To remain in the event, paddlers must:
Complete the full loop within 60 minutes
Be ready to launch again at the next hourly start
If the competition narrows to two remaining athletes, the format continues until one withdraws. The final remaining paddler must then complete one additional solo lap to officially secure the title.
The duration is unpredictable β the race might conclude in several hours or extend across multiple days. Success depends on physical stamina, efficient recovery between laps, smart pacing, and psychological strength.

No drafting
No music or headphones during a lap
Only water may be carried on the board (no food during laps)
One board per athlete (paddles and fins may be changed)
All propulsion must be done standing β no kneeling or sitting
This is not just a race of speed. It is a battle of endurance, discipline, and race intelligence within the unique format of competitive SUP.
