Downwind, Surf, and Pumping: Get Ready for Crozon’s Ultimate Foil Showdown!

The Crozon Foil Festival returns from October 10 to 13, 2024, promising to be the international highlight of the year in the foil discipline! Organized by the Crozon Waterman Club in collaboration with its partners, this event is set to become a world-renowned gathering with an ambitious and innovative program.

Three disciplines will take center stage this year: Surf Foil on the beaches of Crozon, DownWind SUP Foil at sea, and the spectacular Dock Start Pumping at the port of Morgat, offering a varied and captivating show for extreme sports enthusiasts and the general public.

Crozon is picturesque town in western Brittany, France, located on the stunning Crozon Peninsula, surrounded by cliffs, beaches, and the sea—ideal for water sports like foiling.

Crozon Foil Festival = World-class athletes

The festival will host nearly 130 athletes from 16 different nations, including a significant Hawaiian delegation with iconic figures. Among the internationals, we highlight the return of Hawaiian Jack Ho, a surf legend, as well as American Brady Hurley. After finishing second in last year’s edition, Australian Oscar Johansson is also one of the favorites.

The Italian Edoardo Tanas, a resident of Hawaii and reigning world champion, has confirmed his presence, as have the Spencer brothers, also from Hawaii, along with the star couple Gabriella Eliah Bella and Kane Dewilde. Like last year, the Tahitians will be ones to watch, having won last year’s event thanks to a flawless performance by Etienne Fleure. This year, the Tahitian delegation is strong with eight athletes, including the promising Naumi Eychenne and the next generation represented by the Haumani brothers.

Crozon Foil Festival = French champions

Among the French competitors, top athletes will be present to face this exceptional international field. In the women’s category, Olivia Piana, one of the favorites, returns, accompanied by two Breton athletes, Amandine Chazot and Margaux Heligoin.

For the men, locals from the tip of Finistère, Benoit Carpentier, world champion in SUP Surf, and Crozon native Ethan Bry, who just medaled at the World SUP Race Championships this weekend, are serious podium contenders, along with Franco-Caledonian Clément Colmas.

We will also have rising stars of French surfing, such as Keoni Van Der Bij and Clément Roseyro. To strengthen the French team, we can count on the experience of Tom Constant, France’s best Down Foil performer, as well as Thomas Goyard, Olympic windsurfing silver medalist in Tokyo, and his brother Nicolas Goyard, world champion who represented France in foil windsurfing at the recent Paris Olympics in Marseille.

Crozon Foil Festival Program

Amaury Dormet, the event director, promises an unforgettable spectacle, especially with the spectacular Dock Start Pumping event, which will take place on Saturday, October 12, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on the Morgat seawall.
