Le concept

L’Open de France de Foil est de retour sous un nouveau format international, le Crozon Foil Festival. Au programme, 3 jours de compétitions du 10 au 12 octobre 2024. Ouverture des inscriptions à partir du 12 juin avec 3 catégories, Downwind Foil, Surf Foil et Dock Start Pumping. Le Club organisateur Crozon Waterman Club, son responsable technique Amaury DORMET de l’Océan Paddlecamp et leurs partenaires (Commune de Crozon Morgat, Axis Foils, Appletree Surfboards, Surf Pistols, Cskins Wetsuits, Foil Drive), sont très heureux de vous offrir un nouvel évent 100 % Foil porté par la Fédération Française de Surf.

Comment s’inscrire ?

À partir du 12 juin, les dossiers de candidatures seront étudiés dans l’ordre d’arrivée. Attention, au vu de la forte demande de participations au Crozon Foil Festival, nous fermons les demandes de qualification au 31 juin. Nous ouvrirons à nouveau des places au 20 juillet en fonction des places restantes.

Over All Ranking

Cela concerner les hommes participant au 3 épreuves et pour les femmes et les U18 participation à au moins 2 épreuves.

Règles de compétition

En s’inscrivant au Crozon Foil Festival chaque participants accepte les règlements de course et s’engage à respecter la direction de course et son comité d’organisation. La direction de course pourra sanctionner un coureur en cas de non respect du règlement et/ou de l’équipe d’organisation. Par un avertissement, une exclusion du classement. Les règles de courses peuvent évoluer ou être changées, toutes les modifications seront précisées lors des briefing de course.

Sur chaque épreuve les Riders marquent des point allant de 0 pour le premier, deuxième 2 points, 10ème 10 points, etc. Les Riders qui marquent le moins de points sur les épreuves jouerons un podium. Pour le classement Over All Ranking permettant de définir les meilleurs Foiler: Queen Foiler, King Foiler, Prince Foiler, Princess Foiler.

Vendredi 11 octobre

09h30 : Epreuve Downwind Foiling ou Finale Surf Foiling si la météo le permet.

19h00 : Apéro au restaurant « La Flambé ».

Down Wind Foiling

Cette année 2024, 80 places seront décernées sur sélection. Les participants de l’Open de France 2023 sont eux déjà pré-sélectionnés. Sélection sur dossier avec résultats sur une compétition officiel ou tracé GPS d’au moins 10 km.

Règles de compétition
Les démarrages se font exclusivement à l’aide d’une pagaie simple de type SUP Race.
Lors des remontées en bateau, les riders pourront s’équiper de 2 avions, 1 mat et une planche pour choisir le matériel le plus adapté aux conditions météo.
Chaque participant devra s’équiper du matériel de sécurité individuel. Le port du leash et du gilet de sauvetage 50N/CE est obligatoire avec un téléphone dans une pochette étanche. L’organisateur peut ajouter un feu à main ou tout autre dispositif de sécurité individuel si cela lui semble nécessaire.

Surf Foiling
Cette année 2024, 40 places seront décernées sur sélection :
– 4 places sont attribuées au Crozon Foil Festival Trials 1 et 2 juin.
– 10 places sont réservées au classement national Fédération Française de Surf.
– 26 places sont attribuées via une sélection sur dossier qui sera ouverte à tous (France et International) résultat à une compétition officiel avec le classement complet et/ou une vidéo comprenant au minimum 2 droites et 2 gauches avec si possible une connexion entre deux vagues.

Règles de compétition
Le surfeur devra exécuter des manœuvres radicales contrôlées, dans la section la plus critique de la vague avec vitesse, contrôle et flow (fluidité) pour optimiser au maximum son potentiel de points. Le surf innovant et évolutif, tout comme la variété du répertoire technique (manœuvres), devront être pris en compte au moment de récompenser les vagues surfées. Le surfeur qui respecte ces critères, en affichant sur les vagues le plus haut degré de difficulté et d’engagement, sera gratifié des scores les plus élevés ».
La prise d’angle est un élément facilement identifiable qui permettra d’évaluer la prise de risque lors des trajectoires et la difficulté technique des manœuvres.
Les juges porteront une attention particulière au contrôle et au flow, en effet la fluidité des mouvements et des enchaînements font partie de l’évaluation.

Dockstart Pumping
Cette année 2024, 40 places seront décernées sur sélection. Sélection sur dossier avec résultats sur une compétition officiel ou tracé GPS d’au moins 300 mètres en Pumping flat water/no wind.

Règles de compétition
Parcours d’environ 200 mètres au départ d’un bras d’amarrage catways avec une porte (2 bouées rouge) permettant de choisir un virage à droite ou à gauche au choix pour revenir vers une bouée verte sur un virage à gauche avant de passer la ligne d’arrivée.
Tous les cassements se feront à la place sans indications de temps.
Sur chaque manche tirage au sort de la ligne de départ.
Au total, nous aurons, 8 manches qualificatives à 5, le premier en 1/4 – 8 manches de repêchage à 4, le premier en 1/4 – 1/4 de finale à 4 les 2 premiers en 1/2 finale – 1/2 finale à 4 les 2 premiers en finale et une finale à 4.

Le lieu
La presqu’île de Crozon est située à l’extrémité ouest de la Bretagne. Elle forme l’arête centrale du trident par lequel se termine la péninsule bretonne et est englobée en totalité dans le parc naturel régional d’Armorique.

Entourée par la mer, la presqu’île est une destination qui s’adresse aux pratiquants de foil de tout horizons grâce à ses spots idylliques. Son climat et ses superbes paysages sauvages offrent de magnifiques sensations sur l’eau. C’est aujourd’hui, l’un des meilleurs endroits au monde pour pratiquer le Downwind en foil et/ou paddle.

The Concept

The Open de France Foil is back with a new international format, the Crozon Foil Festival. The event will feature 3 days of competitions from October 10 to 12, 2024. Registration opens on June 12, with three categories: Downwind Foil, Surf Foil, and Dock Start Pumping. The organizing club, Crozon Waterman Club, technical director Amaury Dormet from Ocean Paddlecamp, and their partners (Commune de Crozon Morgat, Axis Foils, Appletree Surfboards, Surf Pistols, Cskins Wetsuits, Foil Drive) are thrilled to offer a new 100% Foil event supported by the French Surfing Federation.

How to Register

Starting June 12, applications will be reviewed in the order they are received. Due to high demand for participation in the Crozon Foil Festival, we will close qualification requests on June 31. More spots may open on July 20 depending on availability.

Incomplete applications will not be processed. Each selected rider will receive a registration package to be completed within 30 days.

Overall Ranking

This will apply to men participating in all three events and for women and U18s who participate in at least two events.

Competition Rules

By registering for the Crozon Foil Festival, each participant agrees to follow the race rules and respect the race direction and the organizing committee. The race director may sanction a rider in case of rule violations and/or disrespect towards the organizing team, either through a warning or exclusion from the rankings. The race rules may evolve or change, and all modifications will be specified during the race briefings.

In each event, riders will score points starting from 0 for the first place, 2 points for second, 10 points for tenth, and so on. Riders with the fewest points across the events will compete for a podium finish. For the Overall Ranking, which will determine the best foilers, the titles up for grabs are Queen Foiler, King Foiler, Prince Foiler, and Princess Foiler.

Downwind Foiling

For 2024, 80 spots will be awarded through selection. Participants from the 2023 Open de France are pre-selected. Selection is based on a portfolio with results from an official competition or a GPS track of at least 10 km.

Competition Rules

Starts are exclusively made with a single paddle (SUP Race type).
During boat pickups, riders may bring two foils, one mast, and one board to choose the best equipment for the weather conditions.
Each participant must have individual safety equipment. Wearing a leash and a 50N/CE life jacket is mandatory, as well as carrying a phone in a waterproof case. The organizer may add other safety devices if deemed necessary.
Surf Foiling

For 2024, 40 spots will be awarded through selection:

4 spots will be granted at the Crozon Foil Festival Trials on June 1 and 2.
10 spots are reserved for the national rankings of the French Surfing Federation.
26 spots will be awarded through a portfolio-based selection open to all (French and international) with results from an official competition and/or a video including at least two right turns and two left turns, ideally with a connection between two waves.
Competition Rules The surfer must perform radical controlled maneuvers in the most critical section of the wave, with speed, control, and flow to maximize point potential. Innovative and progressive surfing, along with a varied technical repertoire, will be taken into account when scoring the waves. The surfer who meets these criteria with the highest degree of difficulty and commitment will be rewarded with the highest scores.

Angle control is an easily identifiable element that will help assess risk-taking during trajectories and the technical difficulty of maneuvers. Judges will pay particular attention to control and flow, as fluidity of movements and sequences are part of the evaluation.

Dock Start Pumping

For 2024, 40 spots will be awarded through selection. Selection is based on a portfolio with results from an official competition or a GPS track of at least 300 meters on flat water/no wind.

Competition Rules A course of approximately 200 meters will start from a catwalk arm with a gate (2 red buoys), allowing riders to choose a right or left turn before returning to a green buoy for a left turn and crossing the finish line.

All races will be seeded randomly with no time trials. For each heat, the starting line will be drawn at random. There will be 8 qualifying heats with 5 participants, with the first advancing to the quarterfinals. There will be 8 repechage heats with 4 participants, with the first advancing to the quarterfinals. The quarterfinals will have 4 participants, with the top 2 advancing to the semifinals. The semifinals will have 4 participants, with the top 2 advancing to the final.

Location

The Crozon Peninsula is located in the far west of Brittany. It forms the central ridge of the trident that ends the Breton peninsula and is entirely within the Armorique Regional Natural Park.

Surrounded by the sea, the peninsula is a destination for foiling enthusiasts from all over, thanks to its idyllic spots. Its climate and stunning natural landscapes offer fantastic sensations on the water. Today, it is one of the best places in the world for practicing Downwind in foil and/or paddle.
