Champion d’Europe de SUP Surf à Peniche, Portugal, au début du mois, Benoit Carpentier, le rider Starboard, ne cesse d’impressionner. Le Breton compte bien continuer à briller lors de cette saison de SUP et notamment lors des championnats du Monde qui se dérouleront au Danemark en septembre prochain.
Après une deuxième place l’an dernier, ça fait trop du bien de prendre la première marche du podium !
J’ai découvert le SUP Surf à l’âge de 12 ans avec Gregory Closier chez qui je prenais des cours de surf. Peu de temps après, je participais à mes premières compétitions.
En effet, j’ai parcouru pas mal de kilomètres ces dernières années, je suis un grand fan de point break et j’ai mon petit faible pour le spot de Safi au Maroc !
Cette vagues possède vraiment tout lorsqu’elle fonctionne, tu peux la surfer à 1 m comme 4 m, elle est longue, il y a des sections plates pour carver faire des turns et des sacrés cavernes sur certaines sections !
J’ai eu de super vagues cet hiver entre Hawaii, l’Australie et l’Indonesie aussi ! Ma webserie de ces trois trips est en ligne. N’hésitez pas à aller y faire un tour !
La plupart du temps j’utilise la 7’5″X 25.5″ Pro, planche la plus polyvalente de mon quiver qui marche dans toutes les conditions. Son volume me permet de canaliser mes forces tout au long de la compétition tout en restant performant !
Sinon j’adore surfer sur la Nut 9’0″ X 28.5 pour les jours plus petits ! Je fais pas mal de longboard à cotés, donc faire des petits “nose” avec un SUP c’est sympa aussi.
Je n’a pas de spéciale Ben Carpentier non, mais j’ai comme la plupart des surfeurs l’envie de me mettre au plus deep dans un tube, et ça, c’est sensations assurées !
Je pense que c’est en majorité dû à l’envie des riders, qui, chaque jour, poussent les limites du sport. De plus, on a la chance d’avoir une nouvelle génération très prometteuse qui arrive et qui pousse aussi les anciens.
J’ai pas mal de compétitions à venir, notamment en septembre où je serai présent sur les championnats du Monde ISA au Danemark. J’ai pour objectif de ramener une médaille, si ce n’est le titre.
J’enchaînerai ensuite avec une étape de l’APP world tour à New York où je compte aller faire un résultat.
J’ai aussi prévu pas mal de voyages que je compte filmer puis en faire des édits !
Je me rends en Irlande mi-septembre pour le tournage du film Fáilte avec pas mal de riders. Ça promet !
