The countdown is on for the 9th edition of the Planet Baltic SUP Race, taking place 5-8 August in Kołobrzeg, Poland. As the country’s longest-running ocean SUP race and one of the few remaining major sea races in Northern Europe, the event has grown into a true international gathering for the SUP community.
Each year, the Baltic coast welcomes an increasingly diverse field of athletes, with paddlers from around the world confirming their participation and raising the competitive level of the race.
The excitement is already building – and for TotalSUP, 2026 will mark the second year reporting on-site from the action, bringing the atmosphere and racing straight from the shores of the Baltic Sea.
One of the most coveted honours at the Planet Baltic SUP Race is the Most Valuable Paddler (MVP) title. Introduced in 2017 by Chief Judge Marek Rowiński, the award goes to the most complete athlete of the event – the paddler capable of excelling across sprint, technical and long-distance races.
Inspired by the “winner takes all” spirit of the America’s Cup, the race motto says it best: “There will be no second.”
Only two athletes start the event wearing the symbolic top numbers — #1 for men and #100 for women – currently held by Benyam Bossack (Germany) and four-time MVP Marta Apanasewicz (2022–2025) from Poland.
Alongside the honour and medal, MVP winners also receive a premium automatic watch from Polish watchmaker G. Gerlach Watches.
