With the arrival of the 2019 season comes the arrival of a new SUP paddle from Starboard, the new Lima paddle. The new Lima paddle has been developed by starboard to enable the paddler to execute a smooth and comfortable paddle stroke, with maximum efficiency. The Lima collection comes in 2 blade shapes; LIMA LTD and LIMA. Two shapes adapted for 2 different paddle conditions. Starboard introduces the two paddles.
The LIMA Ltd blade is designed for race and flat water conditions. The direct catch and ability to redirect the water flow automatically is what makes our world champion race team choose the Starboard Lima paddle. You can paddle harder with less attention to your strokes. The Lima LTD is the highest performing paddle in our Starboard range, it adds a touch of magic to each stroke. The Lima LTD is the natural evolution to the Bolt paddle. This paddle was developed with a blade that has a rounder tip, which will make the catch even easier and more precise, also developed with the goal to reduce the impact on your shoulder.
Lima blade is designed for the flat water, with the LIMA you can paddle harder with less attention, adding a touch of magic to each stroke. The paddle is perfect for beginners to advanced level, a champion of flat water. Try it to believe it!
The Paddles are constructed in Carbon Balsa. This is 100% long grain low-density balsa core developed for better strength and paddle sensation, plus a double bi axial-carbon super lightweight coat to make a good rebound and light weight paddle. The Carbon Balsa also has a ABS rail insert along the entire edge of the blade for added durability, and an extended reinforcement on the blade neck for improved strength.
Both Lima paddles contain Starboard’s best paddle technology and is Connor Baxter’s choice of paddle. The blade comes in a range of sizes with the blade size dictating the power and efficiency of the stroke. The Lima blades are available in XS, S, M, L and XL. The 2018 Lima blade size is a different relative to the 2017 Bolt and we recommend most paddlers to use one size larger paddle. The rounded tip enables an easier catch. The design of the blade ensures that only a small area is hitting the water during the entry. The result is a smooth penetration in the water thus reducing the impact on your body, especially on the shoulders. Reducing the stress on the body allows one to paddle longer and more often with less recovery time.
There is a concave shape on the power face, produced this way to guide the water through the blade, thus controlling the wobbling and increasing the water flow speed. The edge defining the concave starts round-shaped at the tip of the blade to separate the water smoothly. It then becomes sharper to dictate the water its path and stabilize the blade. All your power is transferred in a straight forward motion as you don’t need to worry about paddle alignment in the water anymore.
