Le Kelt Ocean Club have organised their first ever ultimate waterman competition that combines 4 disciplines, swimming, Prone Paddle, Stand Up Paddling and running.
The Kelt Ocean Man will take place on the 22nd June 2019 at Les Sables-Blancs in Douarnenez. Located around 1 hour drive from Brest the nearest airport, and 1.5 hours from Roscoff, the nearest port into France. The event will be a 1.5 KM swim, 3.5 KM prone, 5 KM SUP and will then finish with a run of 3 KM.
The course will suit those who frequent the Atlantic Coast as Erwan points out “The area is a sea that is very changeable, depending on the time that the competitors will compete.
The coast with a pronounced line offers a wild landscape with a small island in front of the beach, Tristan island, and in the background is the beautiful Bay of Douarnenez.
The running segment will be partly on the coastal path where athletes will be greeted with incredible views“.
Erwan, organizer of the event and president of the club champions the event “The races combining several disciplines over long distances are developing everywhere and the variations are numerous. Not to mention the Ironman events (226 KM triathlon) or even more ambitious challenges, the challenges are very popular”. He adds: “For the moment, among the registered participants, some runners come from Normandy, from Basque Country and we are trying to recruit athletes from further afield! The Kelt Ocean Man formula, however, comes from Morgat where, last year, a similar race had a great success: It quickly became viral”
Although the organisation recalls that for these l challenges, regular training is necessary. But for people who do not feel physically prepared enough can be rest assured. The event can be done in a relay format, and as part of a team! There are some tasty prizes available as Erwan points out “Firstly, there are 2 tickets (for the 1st man and 1st woman) for Tahiti with the opportunity to participate in the watermana in December. But that aside this race will be a great challenge to embark on a series of different disciplines, either individually or collectively!”
TotalSUP / Air Tahiti Nui and Waterman Tahiti TOUR team will deliver 2 Air Tahiti Nui tickets to participate in the KXT Watermana Liquid Festival at the Kelt Ocean Man / woman.
The distribution of awards is as follows:
– 1 Air Tahiti Nui ticket to the mens winner
– 1 Air Tahiti Nui ticket to the womens winner
– The 2 winners can only use their ticket for participation in the Watermana 2019 in Huahine from November 25 to December 1 (flexible travel dates).
– If it is not possible to participate in the Watermana, the ticket will go to the next person in the Waterman challenge ranking.
– The ticket can not be used outside the Watermana 2019 and can not be given to another person of his choice
