It was highly anticipated: discover the new range of foil from Fanatic, the Aero Glide! A very High Aspect Ratio frontwing (between 9.5 and 9.3) that was missing from the brand’s foil range and that we were impatiently waiting for. With the Aero Glide: speed, downwind and infinite glide are yours! From surf foil to SUP foil via pumping but also wingfoiling, the Aero Glide will take you flying everywhere! To introduce you to this new range, we called on Finn and Jeffrey Spencer, who have been able to use it in all types of conditions on their island of Maui and on different disciplines.

Hello Finn and Jeffrey! So tell us, how are you and what have you been doing since you joined Fanatic and Duotone at the end of 2022?
Finn: We are great! Since we joined we have been working very closely with the whole team on the R&D side as well as spending lots of time on the water at home on Maui winging, surf foiling, downwinding etc…

You were able to try the new Aero Glide foil from Fanatic: in what conditions?
Jeffrey: We have been riding the Aero Glide foils in all types of conditions. They are great for light wind wing sessions but still have a good amount of control at higher speed or when the water is more choppy. They also have been fun to ride in the surf because they make it easy to stay up on foil.

How did you feel with this new Aero Glide foil?
Finn: I feel the new Glide wings have amazing speed and glide while maintaining great control! The smaller sizes are extremely maneuverable and fast while still having plenty of lift. The larger sizes are very stable yet still quite playful for turns.

Which Fanatic board(s) did you use this Aero Glide with?
Jeffrey: We mostly have been riding the Aero Glide foils with the Sky Surf boards because that is what we ride the most for winging and surf foiling but we have found the foils are great with bigger boards as well for anything from a downwind run to a light wind wing session.

How do you think this Aero Glide foil fits into the range of Fanatic foils with the Aero Free and the Aero Carve? How to choose and compose your quiver?
Finn: I think the Aero Glide is a pretty perfect addition to the Fanatic Range. Now with the Carve, Free, and Glide there is an option for whatever you are doing. For pumping, downwind, and tiny waves you have the Glide, for wave riding and freestyle you have the Carve, and for cruising and allround performance you have the Free.
What are your recommendations for mast/fuselage size and frontwing area for SUP foiling with the Aero Glide? And for surf foiling?
Jeffrey: If you are looking for the most lift and glide then the 1305 and the 1095 will work the best and if you are riding with more speed then the smaller foils like the 725 and the 905 will be better. Any mast length works well and I recommend the 68cm fuselage if you want more stability or the 60cm fuselage if you want more maneuverability.

For which type of riders and for which disciplines would you recommend the Aero Glide?
Finn: I would recommend the Aero Glide for any riders looking for more speed and performance. They’re great for Sup and surf foiling in small waves, downwinding, and winging in all conditions.

Finally, what are your upcoming projects or competitions for 2023?
Jeffrey: Currently we are looking forward to several competitions around Hawaii including downwind races and wing events. We are also planning on traveling to film and compete but we are not sure exactly where that will be just yet!
