If you find yourself in London with have few hours or half a day to spare then taking a SUP trip with Active 360 could be a great activity. SUP centre Active 360 has a large presence on the River Thames in London, with four bases spread along the Thames and canal system you can take your pick of what you would like to experience. Exploring the Thames on a SUP opens up secret and not so secret sights of London all seen from the Thames, giving you an entirely different perspective of London from other normal tourists. Paul Hyman from Active 360 highlights what to expect at each of the main locations.
Kew Bridge
The Kew Bridge centre is found at the Strand on the Green, West London. Kew Bridge crosses the Thames with the famous Kew Gardens on the south bank and Brentford Steam Museum near the North Bank. The Kew Bridge location is the original SUP school, it was set up in 2011, and we have introduced thousands of people to SUP.
Our Paddington Basin venue was set up in the summer of 2014. It is an ideal spot right in the heart of London, with all aspects of SUP offered at this location.
We love being able to SUP at Paddington Basin, it is an incredible inner city location close to Paddington Station and near the junction of Regents Canal and the Grand Union Canal. The basin itself is the end of the Paddington Arm of the Grand Junction Canal. Thanks to Merchant Square who manage the basin we are delighted to be able to bring SUP lessons, trips , taster sessions and SUP Yoga right in the heart of London! Post paddle sessions you can try some delicious Scnadanavian food at the KuPP restaurant after your paddle.
Our outdoor SUP base is located right by the Rolling Bridge on the north shore, on the canal-side of the Waterside House, close to the KuPP restaurant and GoBoat London. From this site we run regular weekly SUP lessons and trips, private, group and party bookings!
Brentford Lock
Brentford is West London’s gateway to the River Thames. It is a brilliant canal location, just a few moments away from the lock where the River Brent joins the Grand Union Canal. This location has good facilities, with showers and changing rooms close by.
It also has a new pontoon to access the canal. This location is ideal for children’s parties, family groups and beginners looking to try SUP in a quiet, mellow location.
Putney
This SUP centre is situated at Barns Elms Boathouse, our SUP school is ideally located on the waters edge and offers some spectacular views of London. Close to Putney’s great pubs, bars and restaurants.
