Here are the official standing results of the US Open of SUP at Santa Monica Pier 2022, stop #1 of the 2022 APP WORLD TOUR. Congratulations to April Zilg (Team 404) for her two commanding victories in the Sprints and in the Long Distance race, to Maui’s SUP racing legend Connor Baxter (Starboard) who managed to outrun Arthur Arutkin (Fanatic) in the last beach run in an epic Sprint final on Day 1, and to Itzel Delgado (Infinity SUP) for his first ever win on the APP World Tour in the long-distance, followed by young up-and-coming star, 16 y.o. Bodie Von Allmen (SIC Maui).
We are fully aware there has been a lot of controversy all week around Day 2’s Long-distance race due to a lead boat taking then leading Michael Booth and Arthur Arutkin off-course and out to sea without warning at the 5-mile mark, for which the APP World Tour issued an apology while maintaining the rankings.

The Gorge Ultra Distance went all in on SUP – and it delivered. Held on 12 July, the inaugural 17-mile downwind race unfolded in one of the world’s most iconic downwind playgrounds: the Columbia River Gorge. Organisers also introduced a 7-mile Short Course option, opening the event to a wider range of paddlers and giving […]
When Starboard announced Shuri Araki as the newest member of its Dream Team at the beginning of the year, the SUP world took notice. At just 20 years old, the Okinawan has already amassed eight senior World Championship titles – six ISA and two ICF – and remarkably, he has never raced in the junior division. […]
The SUP calendar has never been more dynamic – but every so often, an event comes along that places stand-up paddling firmly and unapologetically at the heart of the experience. That’s exactly the vision behind the inaugural Gorge Ultra Distance, a 17-mile endurance challenge held on 12 July and set against one of the world’s […]
If there’s one SUP athlete to ask whether our sport has truly carved out its identity among other water and board sports, it’s Michael Booth – a name that carries both weight and integrity. A multiple World SUP Champion, elite waterman, Starboard Dream Team rider, coach, entrepreneur, and member of the ICF SUP Advisory Committee […]
Both the athletes under Light Board Corp and the team – pioneers of hollow board construction and organisers of the SUP Alps Trophy series – are gearing up for one of the most anticipated stops of the season: the Lake Rocks Festival, taking place from 14 – 17 May on Faaker See in Austria, which […]
Our sport needs people who make you want to show up – voices grounded in a deep understanding of the ocean, the disciplines of SUP and surf, and the delicate balance between its limitations and possibilities. In an era often dominated by noise and influencer culture, what truly stands out is authenticity: the raw perspective […]
Infinity SUP returns to Santa Cruz Paddlefest 2026 (27-29 March) as the official SUP surfing division sponsor, continuing their tradition of showing up strong both at the start line and in the break. The longest-running paddle surf competition on the planet, Santa Cruz Paddlefest has been setting the standard since 1985. Its iconic venue, Steamer […]
Mariecarmen Rivera burst onto the scene with incredible power and hasn’t let go since. Her focus and explosiveness demand attention every time she steps on the start line. A triple gold performance (Sprint, Technical, and Distance) at the ICF World SUP Championships stunned the community, backed up immediately at the ISA World SUP Championships with Sprint […]
There are SUP conversations that stick with you – those that intuitively reveal the direction the sport is headed. Catching up with Susanne Lier, 4x World SUP Champion, elite athlete, Coach, and SUNOVA Team Rider, has always offered nothing short of philosophical depth and insider insight into our sport – and the timing couldn’t be […]
