Infinity’s 2027 boards to launch at the ICF World SUP Championships: Interview with Dave Boehne

We’re slowly moving into the phase of the SUP season when brands will start rolling out their 2027 ranges. And when it comes to Infinity, anything carrying Dave Boehne’s signature is bound to generate interest and plenty of hype.

We’ve been catching glimpses of the 2027 EVERREADY in some compelling Cali sunlit sessions and big swell – see Juliette DuHaime bombing those waves! – and then there’s FUTURA, a new model in the Infinity quiver. As stated in the brand’s statement: “Inspired by the modernist principles that shaped the FUTURA  philosophy – where clarity, geometry and function define form – this board strips everything down to its essentials.”

Amidst the busiest season, we were lucky enough to go straight to the source and catch up with Dave Boehne, fresh off the USA National SUP Championships, to find out what’s been cooking in the Infinity SUP kitchen as the Speed Freaks head to Europe for the ICF World SUP Championships, 14-18 October, held in Sabaudia, Italy.

Hi Dave, welcome back to TotalSUP! What have you been up to lately?

Anna! All is well, I’ve been enjoying summer in California. We’ve had tons of waves and many fun regional race events so it’s been really fun. Earned my spot on the USA SUP Surf Team for ISA’s so looking forward to that!

You’ve recently started vlogging again – what brought you back to it, and what can we expect from the new vlog?

I vlog when I can I don’t have any real ambitions with it I think it all just adds to the vibe and what I am about and what I try to bring to my brand.

We’ve never actually asked you this: where did “Have You Seen Blurr?” come from? What’s the story behind the tagline, and how did it become such a recognisable part of your identity and the Infinity brand?

Blurr is a nickname I got from my surf buddies. I have brown skin and I like to surf fast! The “Have You” came later because people seem to be impressed by me always being busy and traveling and still managing to run a business, compete, and be Dad.

It’s turned into this kind of allure haha.. Have you seen him?? What’s the story behind the tagline and how did it become such a recognisable part of your identity and the Infinity brand? I ran with it, it’s kinda fun and why not have fun with stuff. We are all too serious.

You’ve mentioned pre-orders for the new 2027 Infinity race boards. Can you give us a sneak peek? What are you working on and where are you pushing the design next?

YES, thank you for asking. They have been unveiled on our website and we are open for pre-orders worldwide so get in touch with your local agents if you want to get on the list. We have rolled out an updated EVERREADY which I think will really resonate with and wider audience than the original which has proven to be a favorite to our pros and high level paddlers.

This new version keeps the pros happy with some new design features and added stability for the average enthusiast. Then we are launching an all new design the FUTURA is our cross pollination design that merges flat water glide with all around performance and maneuverability. A minimal design aesthetically but there is more than meets the eye when you lift the hood a bit.

The second half of the racing season has just fired up – what are the plans for you and the Infinity Speed Freaks? Which races and goals are you most excited about for the rest of the season?

We will introduce the new boards in competition at ICF World SUP Championships in Italy. So hopefully we launch these new boards with a BANG.

We’ve already had a ton of success on the prototypes here in California. Donato Freens, Arthur Arutkin, Campbell Carter, Soryn Preston and myself have all had victories on the new FUTURA and EVERREADY boards. It’s been really fun.
