We are saddened to announce that Pedro Lacerda, the President of the Madeira Surf Association (ASRAM / Associação de Surf da Região Autónoma da Madeira) died yesterday at the age of 61.
Pedro Lacerda was the father of surfer and SUP racer Tomás Lacerda, holder of numerous titles in Madeira and Portugal, especially in SUP racing.
In recent years, Pedro had played an important role in putting together the yearly Madeira Island SUP Challenge an important event within the European SUP race landscape, organized by local newspaper Diário de Notícias and Clube Naval do Funchal. Previously, Pedro Lacerda had already headed the Madeira Jet Ski Association.
