Today on TotalSUP we are stoked to be the first to share the exciting news from our favourite GPS paddle tracking app! Paddle Logger is excited to announce the launch of PaddlePLAN, a game-changing new feature for iPhone and Apple Watch that helps paddlers to explore and plan routes, navigate while on the water, and stay on course.
Effortless Navigation
PaddlePLAN aims to empower paddlers to explore with point-to-point guidance for the first time.
With PaddlePLAN, Paddle Logger is not just launching a new feature; they’re pioneering a whole new way to experience the water, blending the brand hallmarks of Safety, Simplicity, and Adventure.
PaddlePLAN offers an inspiring and unparalleled paddling experience for everyone, from first-timers to professionals.
Why PaddlePLANTM?
Empowered Exploration
PaddlePLAN offers paddlers the opportunity for adventure and personal fulfilment by handing them powerful but simple tools to push beyond their comfort zone and safely try new routes anywhere in the world.
Proactive Guidance
PaddlePLAN GPS guidance keeps paddlers on track while they explore. A simple directional arrow is their constant reference aid, while haptics and notifications alert them if they stray off course.
Effortless Interaction
PaddlePLAN makes it easy for paddlers to navigate and be safe on the water. The, intuitive interface is simple to use and requires minimal interactions, keeping you immersed in your paddling experience.
How does it work?
Conditions Check
Paddle Logger provides the current wind and tide data, prompting you to think about the paddling conditions and your ability. If you’re comfortable setting off, it asks you, ‘What’s your plan?’
Route planning
You can:
Choose from a list of your regular routes,
Create a new PaddlePLAN by simply dropping waypoints on an interactive map,
Choose a PaddlePLAN suggested by a friend.
Route tracking
With your PaddlePLAN decided or created, you can send it to your Apple Watch, and you’re ready to head out onto the water. As soon as you start tracking your session, you’ll be guided along your planned route. The new tracking screens for Apple Watch allow you to see direction, position and distance at a glance. By rotating the crown (with Waterlock still on), you can choose the Map View, clearly showing your route and Waypoints, or the Navigation screen displaying a simple, dynamic directional arrow and distance data.
Performance monitoring
Key metrics like Distance, Heart Rate, Speed and Pace are clearly displayed.
Safety alerts
If you leave your planned path, gentle haptic feedback and notifications from Apple Watch help you get back on track without interrupting the natural flow of your adventure. These warnings escalate in response to the extent of course deviation, which may indicate a more significant issue. At this point, PaddleLIVE (Paddle Logger’s automated safety system) updates loved ones of your progress on your planned route and, if required, notifies rescue services.
