NY SUP Open includes Community Paddle to support children with special needs
Join the App Tour event on Saturday, 22nd September at 4PM for an opportunity to help others. Together with Skudin Surf, the APP World Tour is proud to host a special 9 kilometer downwind excursion led by pro athletes to raise funds for Surf for All.
Surf for All is a non-profit organization attributed to Skudin Surf where children with autism, Down’s Syndrome and special needs are offered life-changing experiences through surf therapy. Skudin Surf is led by legendary big wave surfer Will Skudin and his brother Cliff. Together, these two have created a rare opportunity for children with special needs.
Surf therapy has been researched as a way to touch children with varying disabilities and Skudin Surf holds weekly camps all summer in Long Beach in order to serve as many children in the New York area as possible.
Entry fee for Surf for All downwinder is $85 and includes a downwind experience you won’t forget. Paddlers will launch from Ted’s Fishing Station Restaurant at 143 Bayside Drive, Point Lookout NY 11569 and paddle with the wind at their back to the APP World Tour Competition site at the end of Riverside Blvd in Long Beach. A shuttle is provided for downwind participants to bring them back to Ted’s Fishing Station where Skudin Surf will host an epic after-party.
