SUP teams from around the world have been eagerly awaiting the opportunity at the world’s only dedicated team SUP competition. The two-day event will take place on the 15th-16th June in Lake Annecy, France and is set to be bigger and better than ever before.
Now in its third year, the Red Paddle Co Dragon World Championships will see teams of four come together from across the globe to tame the mighty 22-foot inflatable Dragon board. The event is open to teams of all capabilities who want to secure their spot for some fast, fun racing. Spaces are limited and competitors are encouraged to sign-up as a team or an individual. New for 2019 the event will see three divisions (male, female and mixed teams) battle it out on the water and with no qualification required even more paddlers can join in the fun!
Head of Marketing at Red Paddle Co, George Shillito explains “It is simply awesome to see teams of all abilities and nationalities come together and race side by side in what has to be the most fun and fastest SUP event on the planet! Racing a Dragon is a test of team spirit and communication as much as it is of pure power and speed. More than anything, the event is about bringing like minded, passionate paddlers together to share in something truly unique”
The event will be held on one of France’s largest lakes, Lake Annecy, surrounded by snow-capped mountains and breath-taking scenery. The crystal-clear waters play host to a collection of picturesque towns and historic villages so participants can find accommodation to suit any budget. So, if you want to breathe some fire into your summer this year, then it’s time to Unleash The Dragon and who knows, you may end up being World Champion!
