Location for the 2019 Red Paddle Dragon World Championships Announced!

Red Paddle Co has announced the date and location for the Dragon World Championships 2019! The world’s only dedicated team SUP competition, where teams of all abilities come together to battle it out on a 22ft four person Dragon board. It is set to be true celebration of SUP!

The setting for the 2019 event has been the subject on excitement with SUP fans across the globe, who have been trying to predict where this year’s Dragon World Champions (DWC) will be crowned. Since its launch in 2017, the DWC has kissed the golden sandy shores of Carlise Bay, Barbados and embraced the mystical mountains of Lake Fuschl, Austria. Now in its third year, Red Paddle Co have confirmed the Dragon World Championships 2019 will be held on the crystal-clear waters of Lake Annecy, France.

The two-day event will take place on the 15th–16th June 2019, slightly earlier in the year than previous events. Head of Marketing at Red Paddle Co, George Shillito explains “The Dragon World Championships has always been about creating the most accessible, fun and fast SUP event in the world. Moving the event to June allows paddlers of any level to get involved from those considering their first board through to teams who have been training throughout the winter. What’s more, we will now be hosting three separate divisions to allow us to offer even more opportunity for people to rally the troops and create teams in either all-men, women’s or mixed categories!”

Nestled in the South Eastern corner of France, Lake Annecy is just 30 minutes from Geneva Airport and is no stranger to SUP. Home to the annual Alpine Lakes Gla Gla race the lake and surroundings provide the perfect location for what is set to be the most epic Dragon World Championships yet.

The competition entry opens on the 25th March 2019, and paddlers of all capabilities are welcome to sign up with no qualification required. Whether you are passionate beginner or a seasoned SUP professional, the ‘DWC’ is an experience of a lifetime. So, if you are looking for fast, fun SUP racing this summer, with a party vibe like no other, then don’t miss out on your slot!
