The International Canoe Federation (ICF) has finalized the locations and dates for this year’s Stand Up Paddling World Ranking Series.
Four key events will take place across Europe, offering ranking points that will play a crucial role in the lead-up to the 2025 ICF SUP World Championships in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The competition will take paddlers to Lago delle Nazioni (Comacchio) in Italy, Sitia and Agios Nikolaos on the Greek island of Crete, and Villach in Austria.
These events represent essential stepping stones toward the World Championships, where athletes will aim to secure top positions in sprint, technical, and long-distance disciplines.
Once again TotalSUP is partnering with all events in the ICF SUP World Ranking Series, bringing exclusive coverage and live streaming competitions from most competitions with this guy Mr. TotalSUP, Mathieu Astier.
Road to Abu Dhabi: The 2025 ICF SUP World Ranking Series
The series kicks off in Italy at Lago delle Nazioni, where the Spring SUP Race will take place from April 3 to 6, featuring sprint, technical, and long-distance races.
Greece will then host two consecutive competitions on the island of Crete. Sitia will stage an ICF World Cup from May 1 to 2, focusing on sprint and technical races, followed by Agios Nikolaos hosting an ICF World Ranking Event from May 3 to 4, featuring technical and long-distance races.
The final European event before the World Championships will be the SUP Alps Trophy – THE LAKE ROCKS in Villach, Austria, from May 29 to June 1, featuring technical and long-distance racing on the stunning Lake Faak.
Paddlers who accumulate sufficient ranking points will gain crucial seeding advantages in sprint and technical events at the ICF SUP World Championships, which will take place in Abu Dhabi from October 29 to November 2.
NEW! ICF SUP Worlds included in the World Ranking Series
Beyond competing for world titles, paddlers will also battle for the overall ICF SUP World Ranking Series crowns, marking an exciting season finale in the UAE.
Last year’s rankings saw Kyriaki Logotheti (Greece) dominate both the women’s long-distance and technical categories. Other 2023 series champions included Katniss Paris (USA) in women’s sprint, Phaedon Doukas (Greece) in men’s sprint, Anastasios Tsouris (Greece) in men’s long-distance, and Blue Ewer (Great Britain) in men’s technical.
Registration Now Open
Athletes can now register for all five events, including the World Championships in Abu Dhabi.
Noemi Horvath, Chair of the ICF SUP Committee, highlighted the significance of this year’s series:
“This year’s ICF World Ranking Series is particularly special, with the World Championships heading to the UAE for the first time. It’s fantastic to start the series at Lago delle Nazioni, a venue that consistently delivers top-quality racing. Crete’s Sitia and Agios Nikolaos will provide spectacular backdrops for high-level competition, and returning to Villach for another exciting Lake Rocks Festival is a perfect way to round off the series. These events will give athletes the opportunity to challenge themselves against the world’s best as they strive to make their mark on the international stage.”
