La pretemporada llega a su fin, comienzan los entrenamientos en serio. Las mariposas se acumulan en el estómago de los riders, y es que la Federación Española de Surf ha publicado el circuito de SUP Race, nada menos que 27 carreras divididas en 5 circuitos diferentes y 7 Campeonatos de España. Muchos títulos a repartir en condiciones para todos los gustos.
Ante la incertidumbre a nivel de las federaciones y asociaciones alrededor del mundo en cuanto a instaurar una sola categoría reina, la FES ha apostado por establecer las categorías 12’6 y 14’ como principales, dejando las “amateur” a elección de la organización de cada carrera.
Copa de España Flat Water
La Copa de España dará su pistoletazo de salida el 23 de Abril en Asturias en una de las pruebas preferidas por los riders: el descenso del Sella. Aunque es cierto que hay algunos tramos del río hay rápidos, es, en general, un río tranquilo y con 5 kilómetros finales totalmente planos. Cada año se presenta el mismo dilema: ¿qué tabla escoger, hinchable o rígida, quilla pequeña, el remo bueno o uno que se pueda romper?
La segunda prueba se desarrollará en pleno corazón de Valladolid, en el río Pisuerga, una carrera que puede presentarse dura si el viento sopla fuerte. Hay que destacar que esta competición, que se celebra el 8 de Mayo, tendrá una puntuación doble para la Copa de España.
Expectación y un poco de miedo produce pensar que la tercera prueba la organiza Antonio de la Rosa, aventurero cuyas gestas darían para escribir tres o cuatro artículos pero que en resumen ha cruzado el Atlántico a remo, esquiado la ruta más dura de Alaska y remado de Madrid a Lisboa con su SUP. Sea como fuere, seguro que el embalse de Atazar en Madrid será el escenario ideal el próximo 21 de Mayo.
La Copa culminará en Galicia con el Campeonato de España de SUP Flat Water en As Pontes (Galicia). Esta pequeña localidad de A Coruña alberga el mayor lago artificial de España. Puntuación triple en este campeonato que coronará un campeón de la Copa y campeón de España. En definitiva, un circuito pensado para “los de interior”, y una buena manera de demostrar que el SUP no es sólo un deporte de costas sino que se puede practicar en cualquier charco de agua como nos demuestra Pepe Oltra en esta foto en la Casa de Campo de Madrid.
