Spain to Host EUROSUP 2026 Across Two Venues: Salinas and Melilla

Spain will host the next EUROSUP 2026, the European Stand Up Paddle Championship for national teams organized by the European Surfing Federation (ESF). The competition will bring together national teams from across Europe and will take place in two locations that will host the different disciplines of the championship.

EuroSUP 2026: SUP Surf, Salinas, Asturias, July 25-27

The SUP Surf discipline will be held from July 25 to 27 at Playa de Salinas, one of the most iconic surf spots in the province of Asturias in northern Spain. Over three days, Europe’s top riders will compete in this discipline at a venue renowned for the quality and consistency of its waves, as well as for its extensive experience in hosting international events. The competition will be integrated into the Salinas Longboard Festival, one of the most prominent events on the European calendar dedicated to classic surfing.

EuroSUP 2026: SUP Race, Melilla, October 2-6

The second venue for the championship will be Melilla, which will host the SUP Race events from October 2 to 6. At this location, the different racing formats will take place, including technical races and long-distance races, in an environment ideally suited for open-water competitions.

The EUROSUP format brings together national teams from different European countries, which compete both individually and as teams across the various Stand Up Paddle disciplines. The previous edition of the championship was held in October 2023 in Peniche, Portugal, further establishing the event as the leading continental SUP competition.

Spain will arrive at this new edition as the defending European champion in the national teams category, and also as a two-time world champion at the ISA World SUP and Paddleboard Championship, underlining the country’s strength on the international SUP scene.

The SUP Race event in Melilla will form part of the second edition of the Juegos del Agua (in English: Water Games), an initiative promoted by the ADESP (Spanish Sport Association) together with eleven Spanish sports federations. This multi-sport project will bring together various high-level championships linked to water sports over a period of 22 days, becoming a platform for collaboration between federations and for promoting new competition formats.

The Juegos del Agua were created with the goal of encouraging innovation in sport, fostering cooperation between disciplines, and generating a positive impact on the local economy and the sports and marine industries, while also promoting a social and sustainable legacy in the regions that host the different competitions.

The European Surfing Federation’s SUP Structure: Circuit and Championship

EUROSUP 2026 is one of the European title events organized by the European Surfing Federation, alongside the European SUP League, the federation’s continental SUP racing circuit, which announced its full calendar yesterday.

“For us it is a great honor that Spain will once again host EUROSUP. Having two venues that perfectly represent the different SUP disciplines will allow us to deliver a championship of the highest sporting and organizational level,” said the event organizers.

Holding the championship across two venues should make it possible to provide the best conditions for each discipline, combining quality waves for the SUP Surf events in Asturias with optimal race courses for the SUP Race competitions in Melilla.
