The next stop of the APP World Tour is in New York and registration has now opened. Set over two locations this festival will show case all sides of what makes New York so special.
Lady Liberty SUP Race
On the 15th September, 2018 East Coast USA and world travelling paddlers will have a unique opportunity to partake in one of the most iconic paddles imaginable: a historic 11 KM race from the Freedom Tower in NYC to the Statue of Liberty and back.
The NY SUP Open is a bucket-list paddle for SUP racers is a highlight on the 2nd stop of the APP World Tour . The race which will be the distance component for the NY SUP Open, will be a 11 KM dash out into the current laden waters of the Hudson River and then around the statue of Liberty. The race will be a showcase event for this year’s 2018 APP World Tour as it kicks off a week-long competition of distance racing sprints and surfing for the NY SUP Open.
The APP Tour is happy to announce that there are an additional 100 ProAm spots for paddlers who want to challenge for the Statue of Liberty race . Once those 100 slots are taken, registration is FULL and will be closed.
Registration for the NY SUP Open for both distance and sprint racing will close on the 7th September. All entries must be submitted by this date. Parking is available at the launch with viewing opportunities for crowds to watch this iconic paddle. For the Pro Division, there will be board transport available from Long Beach, NY to the event site and back.
The New York SUP Open will also host a City Paddle Festival in the heart of Manhattan on the 15th September in conjunction with the Lady Liberty SUP Race. This day-long urban beach extravaganza will include live music and dance performances, Kids Clinics, stand up paddle demo sessions, opportunities to Meet & Greet the Pros, as well as a Movie Screenings.
An event for the entire family! Families are encouraged to bring the kids and experience the retail village, local food cards and the entertainment that makes the City Paddle Festival an event for everyone.

Then on Tuesday 18th September, the NY SUP Open moves to Long Beach,NY for the SUP Sprint Racing competition on this stop of the APP World Tour.
In front of the Hurley Surf Club powered by Skudinsurf, the Pro Division will test their mettle in a race for points towards a World Championship by competing in 200 meter sprint course in and out of the surf break. There will be 48 Pro Division athletes in a field of 32 men and 16 women will vie for top spots in this exciting event.
Amatuers and ProAms may also compete in this Sprint Racing on Tuesday. All levels of paddlers are welcome. NO prior competitive experience is necessary. Registration closes on 7th September.
APP SUP Surf World Tour
After completing the racing component of the NY SUP Open, water people can expect the action to light up in Long Beach with the official opening stop of the 2018 APP Surfing World Tour.
The Main Event, hosted at the Hurley Surf Club in Long Beach, will feature 36 Men and 18 Women that consists of the Top 24 Pro Men and Top 12 Pro Women on the APP Surfing World Tour. There will be an additional 8 Wildcards to be awarded for ProAm Men and 4 for the Women.
Spectators will enjoy the thrill of competition in the first SUP Surfing event of its kind in New York. All levels are encouraged to enter, from Amateur to ProAmateur status. ProAm participants will have a chance at surfing in the Final Round of the Pro Division as they advance through the competition.

The Open Trials provide opportunity for the local and international talent to step up and compete as the Top 4 Men and the Top 2 Women from the Trials will complete the Main Event Draw. This is a rare opportunity for Pro Amateurs to compete on the world stage!

The NY SUP Open is no exception. Participants, visitors and residents can expect social events throughout the week on Long Beach including a Community Charity Race in aid of Surf for All. There will also be a 3-day beach festival at Long Beach that will host a large vendor village along the boardwalk where people can view the action, shop, find local foods and enjoy the show!
