Dedicated to driving environmental change and building on a shared commitment to sustainability, Starboard and Phonecases3D teamed up to launch a special line of biodegradable phone cases featuring exclusive Starboard branding. The design of eco-conscious cases will provide fans and customers with a stylish and responsible way to represent the brand with purpose. t
Starboard offers high-quality impact credits through its Plastic Offset Program (POP). POP removes all types of plastic waste within 50 meters of the shoreline on beaches in Myanmar and Thailand.
In addition to removing plastic from the environment, Starboard’s POP empowers local communities by supporting waste management infrastructure, leading educational school programs, and providing livelihood workshops.
Phonecases3D, the official phone case supplier for top sports clubs like Manchester City and FC Barcelona, has joined forces with Starboard—winner of World Sailing’s Sustainability Award and the IOC’s Sport Positive Award—to promote eco-action and empower fans to support ocean health and community initiatives.
Through this partnership, Phonecases3D is the first company to invest in Starboard’s verified VERRA plastic credits. This contribution represents one tonne of plastic waste collected—equivalent to 32,258 phone cases weighing 31 grams each.
By investing in plastic credits, Phonecases3D strengthens its broader sustainability initiatives. Phonecases3D takes pride in offering certified compostable phone cases designed to be disposed of alongside organic waste. The team manufactures biodegradable cases from plant-derived biopolymers and renewable materials which meet the European standard certificate EN 13432: 2000-12. Such progressive actions align with the company’s 10-point sustainability manifesto.
Christian Nyborg, Phonecases3D CEO, said: “We are thrilled to be part of this project, supporting valuable and immediate action to combat plastic pollution and empower local communities. While plastic is, unfortunately, part of our lives, the POP plays a crucial role in removing plastic that would otherwise remain in the environment.”
Svein Rasmussen, Starboard CEO and former Olympic Windsurfer, said: “Until governments and companies reduce and stop ocean plastic pollution, POP enables us and other environmentally conscious entities to protect our oceans.”
Together, Phonecases3D and Starboard are demonstrating how sports and business can unite to make a real-world environmental impact.
