Following on from the London SUP Open which happens in 10 days time. The APP World Tour is proud to announce that the New Yorkâs Surfing Capital, the City of Long Beach on Long Island will host the first Surfing Stop of the 2018 APP World Tour, kicking off the season in style.
In addition the City will also play host the Sprint Racing component of the New York SUP Open that follow on from the Race around the Statue of Liberty in Manhattan, to provide a very complete challenge to the Worldâs best Racers.

The event will run from the 18th â 23rd September, with the Sprint Racing to open proceedings on the 18th September, quickly followed by the Open Trials event for Surfing and then the Main Event. The whole event will be broadcast live on www.appworldtour.com
The event will be hosted in front of the Hurley Surf Club powered by Skudin Surf, right off the boardwalk on Riverside Blvd, with a large vendor village lining the sand in conjunction with the Long Beach Chamber of Commerce and facing New Yorkâs premiere surf break.

The Long Beach component of the 2018 New York SUP Open will feature the following principal elements:
Sprint Racing in the Surf (18th September)
The World Tour Sprint Racing will kick off proceedings on the 18th, with a course that runs through the surf to provide both a challenge and a spectacle of high performance Stand Up Paddle Racing in New York. It will also deliver a completely different challenge than will have been faced around the Statue of Liberty in the Hudson River, testing the Worldâs best in a complete cross section of conditions.
Open Surf Trials (18th â 23rd September)
This is an open SUP Surfing competition to provide a platform for aspiring athletes and passionate enthusiasts to step up and be counted. It will also provide a qualification point to the big leagues, as the Top 4 athletes in both Menâs and Womenâs divisions will advance directly onto the Main Event.
Main Event: Surf (18th â 23rd September)
This is the official and opening stop for surfing on the APP World Tour for 2018, as the Worldâs best SUP Surfers will congregate in Long Beach to initate their respective campaigns towards this seasonâs World Championship Crown. Community Paddle Event: support a local charity for the Kids
In addition to the World Class competition and in line with the APP World Tourâs commitment to support the local communities it visits, the Long Beach component of the 2018 New York SUP Open will feature an Open Race that will provide opportunity for everyone to participate and enjoy, regardless of age, fitness or ability.
The goal is to get everybody out on the water and raise awareness and funds to support kids initiatives in the community of Long Beach in conjunction with âSurf for Allâ. Entries for this Open Race will go live soon at www.appworldtour.com
