Recently, as part of Oxbow’s “SUPin” video series, we saw superb footage of them paddling in the waterways of NYC on the back of the Sea Paddle NYC charity race, but have you already seen French international SUP riders Jeremy and Ludovic Teulade explore the stunning coastline of the Canary Islands?
Though the footage was captured this summer, The Canary Islands remain relatively warm all year round, with temperatures this very month of November usually averaging around 20°C, which Starboard SUP rider Sonni Hönscheid (who lives in Fuerteventura) can certainly attest to.
Something of a sun-kissed stand up paddle idyll then? Well, the images here speak for themselves. The long fetch coming off the Atlantic can make for some really strong waves indeed, while conditions in the winter months are above all characterised by the challenging swell.
Each of the seven islands lays claim to its own distinct character and they have all become popular tourist destinations in recent times due to their impressively barren, occasionally almost lunar landscapes, with a striking contrast struck between myriad golden sandy beaches in some spots and scorched volcanic rock dominating the scenery in others.
