The Association of Paddlesurf Professionals (APP) has announced the launch of City Paddle Festivals! a participatory three-stop Standup Paddleboard experience and celebration that connects some of the World’s most high profile Cities (London, New York, Paris). City Paddle Festivals pulls into New York for the New York SUP Open on Saturday, 15th September 2018.
The New York SUP Open is the United States’ largest SUP festival and celebrates the community spirit and immersive nature of water-sports. The inaugural event will be held in London, UK, held on the 7th – 8th July, followed by New York, on the 15th September and capped off with Paris, France on the 8th – 9th December. All the action for the New York SUP Open will be at Pier 25, Hudson River Park, New York City, 8am – 9pm on Saturday, 15th September.
The City Paddle Festivals is a true celebration of water-sports and aspirational lifestyle. The New York SUP Open features SUP (Stand Up Paddleboard) participation at every level, as well as live music, entertainment, yoga, food offerings, and much more. What sets this event apart is the ability to observe the world’s best battling it out on the water against the iconic backdrop of New York City, in an APP World Championship Tour race, coupled with the bucket list experience for paddle enthusiasts from all over the globe. Rounding out the festivities are youth clinics, demonstrations and a festival experience with beer garden, food fair and activities galore, making the New York SUP Open the ultimate outdoors and water festival in the Big Apple.

As a showcase of the athleticism of the sport, the challenging and spectacular there will be a 11 KM SUP race around around Lady Liberty, a key highlight of the event. The race is open to three categories for both Men and Women; Amateur Race, Pro-Am and Pro. Team Racing with multi-person craft is open to all, and Under-16 youth paddlers are invited to participate in unique youth clinics for an enjoyable and educational introduction to SUP.
The Festival also features immersive experiences on dry land for all, including Morning Yoga, Live Music, Food and Beverage vendors and a Pilates Evening Session. Along with SUP Yoga, the full-day event will see numerous exhibitions throughout the day, inclusive of a showcase of the spectacular hydrofoil craze that has swept through the watersports world. Promoting entertainment, participation and an introduction to SUP and watersports, the New York SUP Open is an inclusive, participatory and exciting day out for the whole family, water enthusiasts and athletes.
The New York SUP Open, along with all City Paddle Festival events will be aired on USA television network CBS Sports.
