Infinity SUP athletes made a massive impact at the 2024 PASA Pan American Surfing Games in Punta Rocas, Lima, Peru, clinching three gold medals and one silver across SUP Surf and SUP Race events. Peruvian SUP Surfers Sebastián Gómez, Vania Torres as well as Puerto Rican and Argentinian SUP Racers Mariecarmen Rivera and Juliette Duhaime (silver) stood out among the continent’s best, solidifying Infinity SUP’s dominance in the Pan Am region. Peru’s Itzel Delgado delivered once again an amazing Pan Am performance taking gold for the 3rd time in the men’s SUP race. Huge congratulations to Brazil, crowned the overall champion after a week of thrilling battles.
Sebastián Gómez Wins Men’s SUP Surf Gold
Peruvian Infinity SUP rider Sebastián Gómez took home his first-ever Pan American PASA gold in the men’s SUP Surf category, with a stellar performance that earned him 16.33 points. In a hard-fought final, he surpassed Brazilian champions Luiz Diniz (13.23 points) and Wellington Reis (10.83 points). This win firmly places Gómez among the elite SUP surfers in the Americas.
Vania Torres Claims Her Second PASA Gold in Women’s SUP Surf
Infinity rider Vania Torres secured her second Pan American PASA gold in women’s SUP Surf, following her 2017 victory. Torres dominated the final, scoring 12.16 points to defeat Brazil’s Aline Adisaka and Gabi Sztamfater. Her consistent top-tier performances continue to make her one of the most respected SUP surfers worldwide.
Mariecarmen Rivera Dominates Women’s SUP Race
Mariecarmen Rivera from Puerto Rico, already a medallist at the last ISA SUP World Championships in all three disciplines and this year’s Euro Tour winner, added another gold to her impressive career by winning the women’s SUP race. Leading from start to finish, Rivera completed the 3-kilometer course in 20:23, securing the Pan American title. Behind her, fellow Infinity rider Juliette Duhaime of Argentina delivered a strong performance to take silver with a time of 20:35 and Brazil’s Jessika Matos took the bronze. Argentina’s Alma Coletta Spada rounded out the podium with the copper.
It’s safe to say that Infinity CEO and SUP surfer / racer Dave Boehne, watching from home in Dana Point, California, was more than pleased:
“Super proud of the Peruvians Vania and Sebastian earning the Gold Medals in SUP surf. Both surfers looked like the ones to beat throughout the event and to get it done at home in Peru in front of friends and family has got to be very special. Amazing!”
“The performance put on by both Mariecarmen and Juliette was dominant from start to finish. These ladies have proved all year they are a threat in all conditions. It was super fun to watch them battle all the way to the end and earn Gold and Silver both riding on Blackfish boards and adding to the continued success this design has in technical style races”
Itzel Delgado Secures Gold in Men’s SUP Race
Another Peruvian athlete delivered a spectacular performance. Itzel Delgado captured gold for Peru in the Men’s SUP race with a time of 17:42. Delgado navigated the challenging course with skill, finishing ahead of Argentina’s Santino Basaldella (18:06) who took silver.
