Tags: Canada, Larry Cain, Canoe, Stroke

Larry Cain is more than just a great Stand Up Paddler. The Canadian athlete has a long history of using a paddle and it shows in his impeccable strokes. Larry Cain was originally a sprint canoeist and in fact, in 1984 during the Los Angeles Olympic games, he won the Men’s C-1 500 metres Canoe Sprint and got a gold medal for Canada.

This video shows the Canoe Sprint race that made him a hero. While he was considered an underdog before the sprint, he managed beat the race’s favorite Costica Olaru and the runner up Henning Jakobsen by a fairly large margin. Look at his stroke, it’s almost the same as the one he uses on his Stand Up Paddle board.
