Originally from the inland state of Ohio, Sean Poynter made the move to Florida when he was 10 years old. Shortly afterwards, he picked up surfing. At age 14, he was sponsored by Volcom and traveled internationally as a pro/am surfer with the company. In 2010 he made the transition to Stand-Up Paddling at the professional level. Focused on paddle surfing, Sean has won two ISA paddle surfing gold medals (in 2013 and 2015) and has several other professional event wins to his name. Poynter also serves as a performance paddle surfing coach at SUP ‘N’ Surf Retreat and a board design influencer to Starboard.
