Candice Appleby

Candice Appleby, born in San Clemente, California, USA, is a renowned waterwoman celebrated for her achievements in surfing and standup paddleboarding (SUP). Her favorite surf breaks include her local spot, San Onofre, and Makaha. Sponsored by Infinity Surfboards, Quickblade Paddles, Now Foods, Virus Performance, and Pualani Hawaii Bikinis, Candice has an impressive list of accomplishments. She won a silver medal at the 2019 Pan-American Games, was the 2009 Women’s Pipeline Pro Longboard Champion, a six-time Battle of the Paddle Champion, a three-time Pacific Paddle Games Champion, and the 2015 APP World Tour Racing Champion. In 2008, she made history by winning both the women’s and Open Pro divisions at Duke’s Ocean Festival.

Candice began surfing at age nine and competing at ten, eventually leading San Clemente High to four national titles as the surf team captain. She earned her degree at the University of Hawaii and fully embraced surfing and SUP. Candice has beaten men in many SUP competitions and has been a three-time #1 Female SUP Athlete of the Year. Beyond her athletic prowess, she is a dedicated coach and founder Ocean Academy stems helping to train the next generation of SUP athletes and sharing her knowledge. Known as a pioneer and champion of SUP, Candice Appleby is highly respected in the sport.
