Experience profound sense of inner freedom, under the open sky, where reflections dance on the waters, and your only thought is the here and now.
Day 1
This is one of the most exciting days as participants gather at the hotel and finally meet their SUPdriven companions. The guides welcome participants on arrival, with time to settle into rooms, relax in the garden, or take a walk along the lake. An expedition briefing takes place before dinner, followed by a delicious locally sourced meal served in the hotel’s 1920s dining room. After dinner, the hotel’s lounge bar is open for continued relaxation.
Day 2
Launch day arrives. After a relaxed Scandinavian breakfast buffet at the hotel, a short walk leads to the launch site. Boards are loaded and the expedition begins on the water. The first paddling day is intentionally gentle, allowing participants to get to know each other, their boards, and the group’s natural rhythm. A simple lunch is enjoyed along the way before setting up camp at a scenic location.
Day 3
This day marks entry into Sweden’s newest national park. Paddling continues deeper into the landscape, with time to fully immerse in the surroundings. After a lunch stop, the journey continues toward a campsite within the national park, with potential time to explore the varied terrain, including a beautiful beech forest.
Day 4
By the fourth day, a strong connection with the board typically develops. Swimming opportunities and extended time on the water define the day’s pace. A stop at a local café may be possible for a traditional fika, including regional specialties such as ostkaka (Swedish cheesecake) or other local treats.
Day 5
With thousands of small islands, a new view appears around every corner. The pace slows to fully enjoy the scenery, swimming, and relaxing on the water. Camp is set up in the evening, followed by time around the fire and well-earned rest.
Day 6
The expedition concludes around lunchtime at the final destination, returning to the original starting point. Boards are unloaded, and care is taken to separate personal equipment from expedition gear. Left luggage can be collected from the hotel before beginning the journey home.
Nature is home, and tents serve as sleeping quarters. Each participant has a private two-person tent, offering ample space to spread out and organize personal belongings. Couples or friends are welcome to share a tent if preferred. Camping locations are rustic, ranging from wild camping to sites with limited facilities. One night is planned at a more established campground with access to showers.
Participants use simple toilet facilities, including the classic “wooden shack with a heart in its door.” Drinking water is carried collectively and replenished whenever possible. The experience also includes practicing the Scandinavian tradition of summer bathing in lakes.
The first night is spent dining and sleeping at a family-run bed and breakfast dating back to the 1920s. The accommodation features a charming garden, a traditional dining room, and a bar lounge. Shared bedrooms provide an opportunity to begin bonding with fellow SUPdriven participants.
As part of your adventure, you will receive a specially designed 60 liter waterproof expedition dry bag from Yster SUP, designed to clip directly onto your board. The best part is that it is yours to keep, worth €109, as our gift to ensure your SUP adventures continue long after your expedition. You will receive your Yster SUP Expedition Dry Bag 60 – SUPdriven Expeditions Edition at the expedition base camp.

The expedition starts and ends in the village of Urshult in southern Sweden. Point-to-point travel planning can be done using www.sj.se
, which provides bus and train options to and from Urshult. The destination station is “Urshult Stationsvägen”, and from there it is a short walk to Urshult Hotell/Bed and Breakfast.
Flying into Copenhagen is a convenient option, as train travel can begin directly from the airport with connections all the way to Urshult. Total travel time is approximately 3–4 hours. There are also frequent train connections from Stockholm and Malmö for those wishing to include these cities in their journey. Tickets do not need to be booked in advance unless using an express train (snabbtåg), such as routes to Stockholm.
Most train routes pass through Växjö. Växjö train station is located in the city center and offers easy access to restrooms, coffee, and any last-minute supplies. Växjö is a charming Swedish town with several good dining options and can be a pleasant place to spend a night before or after the expedition.
