The SUP King Marathon – Salaca 100 is a thrilling SUP endurance challenge that takes participants on a breathtaking 100-kilometer journey along one of Latvia’s most scenic rivers. This event, now in its second edition, is designed for those seeking to push their physical and mental limits while experiencing the natural beauty of the Salaca River and the Baltic Sea.
When and Where
The marathon takes place on May 3, 2025, starting at Vecate, where the Salaca River emerges from Lake Burtnieks, and ending at Salacgrīva, on the shores of the Baltic Sea. The route winds through the pristine forests and rock formations of Northern Vidzeme, offering participants an unparalleled paddling experience.

Covering 100 kilometers in a single day, the marathon is a true test of endurance and determination. The river’s current provides some assistance, but paddlers must pace themselves carefully to sustain their energy throughout the course.
