Welcome to the 29th Annual Key West Paddle Classic – one of the East Coast’s premier multi-sport 12-mile paddle races. Held on 9 May, this favourite destination event brings together one of the largest and most diverse race lineups in the region, including: SUP 3-person relay, SUP 14’, SUP U-14’, prone, OC-1, OC-2, surfski, and sea kayak divisions.
This year introduces a new host and venue, with Florida Keys Watermans Company taking the reins and the race starting and finishing at Beachside Resort & Residences. New location, same iconic race – expect an unforgettable day on the water, with updated course details and exclusive accommodation offers to follow.
First launched in 1997 by Micheal O’Shaunessy, the event now enters its 29th year. Lazy Dogs stewarded the race from 2013 to 2024 before passing it on to a new generation.
For returning competitors, the tradition continues. For those who’ve had it on the bucket list, this is the year to be on the start line.

Not quite up for the full 12-mile solo challenge? No problem – grab a couple of friends and join the RELAY RACE! Teams of 3 can split the course, making it challenging yet fun for all.
Be part of one of the most iconic and longest running paddle events in the world. Whether you go the distance solo or team up for the relay, this is an event you don’t want to miss.
Beachside is offering a range of room options for guests, with Standard Rooms priced at $239 per night, One Bedroom Suites starting at $339 per night for a resort view and $379 per night for a water view, and spacious Three Bedroom Suites available at $699 per night. Rates do not include current city and state taxes, which total 12.5% and are subject to change based on government regulations.
To book, guests may call the hotel directly at 305 296 8100 and reference Key West Paddle Classic as the group name. Alternatively, reservations can be made via the online booking form – simply enter Key West Paddle Classic in the group name field, and a confirmation email from BRIGHTWILD will be sent within 24 hours.
All reservations must be completed before Monday, April 13, 2026, and guests should identify both the event name and their stay dates when booking.
