NAME OF SUP EVENT: Bohinj SUP Challenge 2024

The SUP competition will take place within the framework of the Bohinj Kayak Marathon.

EVENT LOCATION: Bohinj – Pod Skalco Bay

DATE: August 17, 2024

CATEGORIES:

• ELITE: unified men’s and women’s category
• INFLATABLE BOARDS: unified men’s and women’s category
• YOUTH: girls and boys up to 16 years old – U16
• MASTER and KAHUNA: women and men over 50 years old
• FUN CATEGORY: unified men’s and women’s category
• JUNIOR CATEGORY: boys and girls up to 12 years old – U12

AWARDS AND PRIZES: Medals will be awarded for the first three places in all listed categories.

EQUIPMENT AND COMPETITION RULES: The competition will be held on hard and inflatable boards according to the rules of the Surf Association of Slovenia.

• In the categories of elite, inflatable boards, kahuna/master, U12, U16, the competition will be on SUP boards up to a length of 427 cm (14 ft).
• The FUN category will compete on inflatable boards up to a length of 427 cm (14 ft).
• Only single-blade SUP paddles are allowed. The use of a safety leash is mandatory!

LOCATION OF THE MEETING POINT: Pod Skalco, 4265 Bohinjsko jezero, where registration and collection of start numbers will take place. Arrival time at the location: from 9.00 onwards. Paid parking spaces are available nearby.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE AND ENTRY FEE: Registration is mandatory via the online form. Pre-registration entry fee: €10 for boys and girls in the U12 category, €20 for the FUN category, and €30 for other categories. On the day of the competition, the entry fee is €40. INSURANCE: Every competitor must have health insurance!

FAIR PLAY, PADDLING ON KNEES, SITTING, OR KNEELING: Competitors are expected to compete fairly and sportingly. Rough or unsporting behavior (e.g., pushing a fellow competitor into the water) will be punished with disqualification. Paddling on knees or sitting is not allowed and will be penalized with disqualification. The exception is a situation after a fall, where the competitor can take 5 paddle strokes on their knees.

SAFETY: The SUP race takes place on Lake Bohinj. A safety leash is mandatory throughout the competition. In unfavorable weather conditions, the competition director may prescribe the use of protective clothing – neoprene or dry suit. In case of a storm, approaching storm, strong wind, or other dangerous situations, the organizer may cancel the competition. In this case, the organizer will inform registered competitors via the provided email or mobile number with an SMS message.
