The BAT is BACK ! 4 years after the latest edition, the BAT Race will be held again on Lake Saint Leonard (Switzerland) on march 12th.
On the program: solo and tandem races, kids race!
The competitors will compete in a tournament with a women’s table and a men’s table. For those eliminated in the 1st round, a losers’ tournament will allow them to do at least 2 solo races plus the tandem and relay race!
Competitors who so wish will then be able to compete in the Red Paddle Tandem (15”), a race that promises to be particularly fun, with falls to be expected…
The equipment (paddle, vest, paddles) is provided by our sports partner since 2015: Red Paddle Co, inventor of the inflatable stand up paddle.
Come in disguise!
For this stage like no other of the Alpine Lakes Tour, even more exceptional, we want something really fun by trying to welcome as many people as possible. We would like everyone to come dressed up… The theme being naturally that of superheroes! But everyone doesn’t have to be Batman or Batwoman… The idea is to have a disguise in keeping with this very original spot! A prize will be awarded for the best costumes!
There will be a main race based on sprints. Everybody will race at least twice.
A kids race will also be held. (free)
Fees : Entrance Fee to the lake CHF 12 / BAT Race fees : 28€ – Free for the kids under 14 registered for the kids Race.
No more health restrictions according the canton of Valais rules
The underground lake of Saint Léonard
The underground lake of St-Léonard is located in Switzerland, between Sion and Sierre, in the heart of the Valais Alps. This lake nestles between 30 and 70 meters deep. With a length of almost 300 meters, it is the largest natural and navigable underground lake in Europe. Weakly influenced by seasonal changes, the temperature of the cave is constantly around 15 degrees, that of the water at 11 degrees.
Open to the public from March to October, the lake can be explored by taking part in guided tours on boats with a capacity of 40 people. Original events are regularly offered there, such as aperitifs or concerts on board the boats.
The official opening of the lake to the public for the 2022 season will take place the weekend after the BAT Race.
Navigating the lake on a stand-up paddle is totally unique and reserved for this stage of the Alpine Lakes Tour.
