The Lake Rocks Festival 2023

Registration is open for this year’s THE LAKE ROCKS SUP Festival at Lake Faaker See in Carinthia (Austria), stop #1 of the 2023 SUP Alps Trophy.

After the ingenious Premiere in Spring 2022 the SUP Alps Trophy returns to the Villach – Faaker See – Ossiacher See holiday region return. At the 2nd edition of THE LAKE ROCKS SUP Festival, top athletes, paddling amateurs and beginners will once again rock Lake Faak and this year also the old town of Villach.

For the first time, qualification points for the SUP World Championships can be earned at Lake Faaker See, as we are part of the ICF World Ranking Series.

In a nutshell: 
4 days of SUP race action and LIVE music for everyone!
Long, Short, Tech, Boardercross, and XXL races – € 10,000 total prize money
ALL Race Pass: € 75,00 – Free for U16!
Free entry to all events (except races);
Testival, SUP yoga, SUP classes, live music, BBQ and more
Athletes of all age groups and paddling skills will be able to attend several SUP Alps Trophy races and an extended fringe program.
This year we will even be part of the ICF World Ranking Series.

Thursday, May 18 – CITY Race  

AirSUP Boardercross Championship Villach

For the very first time, an AIRSUP BX CHAMPIONSHIP is on the racing calendar SUP Alps Trophy and the FreizeitBASE Villach provides the spectacular scenery for the CITY Race. In the middle of Villach’s old town and directly on the Drau River, standardized iSUPs paddled spectacular races in the style of a boardercross competition. From the amateur to the elite paddler, everyone can face the elimination races here several times, because every placement is paddled out by means of a system of promotion and relegation. All this in the center of Villach, with DJ sounds and embedded in the urban “Fan Arena” between the old town and the Congress Center Villach.

Friday, May 19 – TEAM Race

XXL Board

The XXL TEAM Race is the team competition at The Lake Rocks. 6 – 8 people paddle as a team on an oversized stand-up paddling board in knockout duels to the final. Everyone can take part, no matter if you are an absolute paddler or a professional. The ideal competition for groups of friends, clubs and companies.

Due to the great success in 2022, the starting field for 2023 will be expanded from 20 to 40 teams.
BUT ATTENTION: The starting places are traditionally booked up quickly and more than 40 teams are not admitted.

Saturday, May 20th – Pro Race

Long Distance – 12km

Here you can meet the top paddlers of the SUP Alps Trophy measure on the long-distance measure. At the big award ceremony, checks with a total prize money of €9.000,00 will be awarded to the most successful paddlers. This race is also the big season opener of the SUP Alps Trophy racing series.

Three times four kilometers around the Faaker See island, to the turning buoy at Panorama Beach, past the buoy in Neuegg and back to the start at the SUP Village – Strandcamping Gruber.

The competition is the start of the season SUPS ALPS TROPHY RACE CLASS where the top three results are included in the year-end rankings.

Saturday, May 20th – FUN Race

Short Distance – 2km

The FUN Race is the ideal start for all SUP racing enthusiasts and is also suitable for young paddlers. At THE LAKE ROCKS there is even a separate ranking for the youngest and lots of medals. The competition is also included in the overall ranking of the FUN CLASS of the SUP Alps Trophy, in which the best 3 annual results count.

Two kilometers around the Faaker See island and back to the start at Strandcamping Gruber.

Sunday, May 21:  TECH Race

The TECH Race is one of the most exciting disciplines for fans. Here you can experience the races up close – from the spectacular starts on the beach to the many exciting qualifying runs to the battles for positions around the buoys on land and in the water. Up to 12 participants always start at the same time and fight each other in several races from the preliminary heats to the final. Endurance, strength and technique are equally important here.

1000 meters with beach start, portage and finish on the beach.

Entry fee: €23,00 or €0,00 for U16 starters

AN ADMISSION-FREE FOUR DAY PROGRAM
You can also look forward to an expanded SUP Village at Strandcamping Gruber with even more opportunities to try out, find out, and work out. And of course, you can expect live music, paddling parties, and many other highlights.

ARRIVE AND OFF INTO THE WATER
Directly at the event site Strandcamping Gruber at lake Faaker See there will be the opportunity to see and test the newest products of the brands Lightboard Corp, Fanatic, Starboard and many more.

In addition, various exhibitors present their latest products from the areas sports, leisure and health.

Each and everyone is warmly invited to participate in the five races. Young paddlers are particularly important to us, which is why there is no participation fee for all U16 athletes in all races.
