Register for the ICF World SUP Championships in Balaton, Hungary, September 9 – 12

Reigning world champions and Starboard SUP stars Connor Baxter and Michael Booth are among the first international athletes to sign on for this year’s International Canoe Federation Stand Up Paddling world championships in Hungary.

The final deadline for registration (August 30) for the September world championships is fast approaching, and with it the excitement levels are building for an event that will showcase the very best that SUP has to offer.

Lake Balaton in Hungary will provide a stunning backdrop for the world’s biggest SUP race in 2021, with Central Europe’s largest lake already a haven for paddlers each year. The 2021 ICF SUP world championships will run from September 9 to 12.

“To have two of our reigning world champions already signed up to compete is a great boost for our championships,” ICF SUP coordinator, Hoichan Kwon, said.

“Connor and Michael were two of the biggest stars at our world championships in China in 2019, and we know they are both itching for the chance to get out and defend their titles.

“It’s been such an uncertain time for everyone involved in our sport, and we know people have been excited about the prospect of racing again on the world stage. That is being reflected in the number of athletes who are now registering for our competition.”

Baxter won gold in the men’s 200 metre sprint, while Booth was crowned long distance champion.

In Balaton, there will be sprint, long distance, technical and races for inflatable boards. Competition will be held in senior, junior and masters age groups.
